I was able to discover the organization

As part of my university degree in mechanical and production engineering technology at the University Institute of Technology in Troyes, I had the opportunity to complete a 10-week end-of-study internship at the methods office of POK SAS, which is one of the European leaders in the manufacture of fire-fighting equipment.

The company is known worldwide for its know-how and the quality of its products. Markets for fire-fighting products have grown considerably in recent years. This situation presents both challenges and opportunities. The need to be able to ensure the quality of its products means that POK needs to obtain quality certifications and have stricter control of its products in order to stand out from the competition.

As part of my professional experience, I was first able to discover the organization of the industrial company, participate fully in its activities while carrying out assembly ranges of the various products used to list all the phases of development of a part, note step by step the evolution of the manufacture of a product, as well as the realization of PDCA, which is a continuous improvement and problem solving process according to its cycle allows to have a structured method and to implement the most adapted and sustainable solutions.

The diversity of the tasks I was able to accomplish allowed me to acquire a relative mastery of SPI software (ERP), improve my knowledge in the field of industrial mechanics, in particular the analysis of plans, the search for technical solutions, develop my organizational skills, my work skills within a group and my communication skills.

My internship at POK is very informative. During these 8 weeks, I was able to understand the work process in a company. Beyond the activity of each of the departments, I was able to learn how the different departments of such a company are structured. In addition, the human relations between the company’s various employees, regardless of the activity carried out by each of them, taught me how to behave in all circumstances.
